The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Genevieve Irby can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Obituary for Genevieve Irby (Moore)

Genevieve Moore Irby, age 103, of Holly Lake Ranch, Hawkins, died October 5, 2014, after a short illness. Her husband of 60 years, Casey R. Irby, preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her children, Louise Irby Gilbreath and Robert S. (Bob) and Ann Irby, all of Holly Lake Ranch, Hawkins; grandchildren Chris and Lisa Gilbreath of Austin; Kelli Gilbreath Strickland of Holly Lake Ranch; and Chad and Michelle Irby of Midlothian; five great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born September 22, 1911, on Sand Mountain, Henagar, Alabama. When she was 9, the family moved to undeveloped farm land near Florala in south Alabama, where she grew up. She moved to Texas in 1933 and married Casey Irby in 1934. They moved from the Irving, Texas, area in 1947 to the rural community of Coppell. In 1999, she moved to Holly Lake Ranch with her daughter’s family. A strong Christian, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Coppell for 67 years. As a homemaker for most of her life, she enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and canning, sewing, and making quilts.
