Obituary for Carrol Escovedo

Carrol Escovedo
Carrol Lee Escovedo
09/30/1939- 12/03/2016

He preferred to be called Lee, even though he gave his family the exception to the rule and they all called him Carrol Lee.
Lee was born Sept 30, 1939 in Houston TX, and grew up in the surrounding area of Rosharon TX. He graduated in 1958 from Angleton High School in Angleton TX. Some of his favorite memories after graduation was riding on patrol with the Sheriff of Brazoria County TX.
He served 2 yrs in the Army, upon discharge he went to work for Brown & Root. There he learned to operate a dozer and eventually most of the excavating machinery on construction sites.
He worked for several construction companies in the Houston area, including Dee's Construction. In the 1980's construction work became hard to find due to the oil crunch.
Lee, his wife Patricia and the family moved to Escondido CA and stayed there until he retired from Iron Horse Grading Inc. of San Diego CA
in 2007.
He & Pat (2-6-1938/11-27-2009)moved to Quitman, TX and lived there until his death on Dec.-03-2016.
Lee loved his family and friends and was very protective over them. He was a very gracious host and liked to take his visitors to see the different sites and attractions surrounding wherever he lived. He was an avid explorer of the areas.
After moving to Quitman fishing Lake Fork for crappie was a favorite past time. The Dallas Cowboys was his favorite football team with NASCAR and golf as the other sports he liked to watch on tv.. in fact if they were on at the same time he would switch channels during commercials so that he could keep up with what was happening.
Lee & I (Charlotte Smith) got married at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport LA on Dec 11 2013. Three years together doesn't seem very long but we lived them with the knowledge that God was giving us time together so that we could love one another, take care of each other and living one day at a time. Lee was loved by so many people there just isn't enough paper & ink to write them down. Rest in peace Lee till we meet again. ❤️
Lee was preceded in death by his Parents, Peter and Martha Escovedo and by his wife Patricia Ann Escovedo
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Smith Escovedo of Quitman; sons, Rick Escovedo, Tracy Escovedo of Palacios, Texas and his wife Katheryn and Darrin Lee of Livingston, Texas; daughters, Sherri Delafuente of Houston and her husband Tony, Terri Duvendeck of Chesapeake, Ohio and her husband Richard, Deanna Phelan of Niangua, Missouri and her husband Tom; brother, David Wilbanks of Rosharon, Texas; sister, Carolyn Duke of Alvin, Texas and her husband Anthony "Red"; 19 grandchildren, Christopher, Krista, Michael, Aaron, Victoria, Logan, Colby, Mathew, Noah, Elijah, Ashley, Kaylee, Johnathan, Michelle, Lauren, Lauralie, Brett, Haley, Bryson and numerious other relatives and friends.
