Obituary for Dorothy Logan
LOGAN; DOROTHY COOK, born April 22, 1924 in Wiggins, MS, died in her home at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas, TX on December 3,, 2016. She was a beautiful person inside and out with a deep faith in her God. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Dorothy was the next youngest of 10 children and at 16 she was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class and went on to graduate from Perkins Women’s Junior college. Dorothy moved to Gulfport and while there met Wayne Logan and they married in June of 1946. Dorothy and Wayne Logan dedicated their lives to mission work and served as medical missionaries in Nigeria starting in 1952 for 30 years for the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board. When they retired, they moved to Mineola, Texas. They moved to Presbyterian Village North in January of 1999. Dorothy lost the love of her life April 21, 2000 and continued living in Presbyterian Village North. Dorothy had a broad smile and infectious laugh that can be seen in the faces and heard in the voices of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Martha & Calvin Ramage of Dallas; daughter Rebecca Logan of Raeford, NC; son & daughter-in-law, Steven & Marcia Logan of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Ashley Burnam, Rachel Logan, Cassidy Crew, & Colin Logan and seven great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church of Dallas 1 PM, Friday December 9th presided over by retired Southern Baptist Foreign Missionary Baker Hill. A graveside burial service will be at Cedar Memorial Gardens in Mineola on Saturday December 10th at 11AM also presided over by Baker Hill. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to The International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention for works in Nigeria.
