Douglas Jack Fournier
Born October 09, 1924, Doug lived his childhood in Elk River, Minnesota. Doug joined the Navy in 1943 as a carrier fighter pilot during World War II achieving the rank of Lieutenant when the war ended. He moved to Tulsa, OK to go to college at the University of Tulsa on the GI bill where he met and married Ireene Carter. They were married for 59 years prior to Ireene’s passing and had two children, David and Carol. He was the grandfather to six grandchildren, Carter, Lauren, Nicholas, Emily, Peter and Ben. He was great-grandfather to three, Sophie, Wade, and Aiden.
Doug worked for International Harvester's Truck division after graduation and continued to work for them for 33 years. Doug was an accomplished manager for IH and in 1965 was recognized as “Number One” Branch Manager. Doug retired from IH in 1981. He was never the sit at home type and started his own business, Jamestown Industries, with Ireene. They ran it for several years in Rockwall, TX before moving to Mineola, TX.
Doug's interests and hobbies were flying his Swift airplane, rebuilding and selling International Harvester Scouts, working on his land and enjoying the companionship of his lab.
He married Bertha Ogelsby in 2014 and both were residents of Autumn Winds assisted living at the time.
Funeral Service is scheduled for Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Mineola.
