Sara Craddock (Milner)
Sara Jean Craddock, age 94, passed away 9 June 2017, in Longview, TX. She was born August 4, 1922, in Winnsboro, TX, to Ocie Kyle and Anne (Boyd) Milner, and was the eighth of ten children. In 1943 Jean Milner married U.S. Army 1st Lt. Roger H. Craddock, also from Winnsboro. After completing her Bachelor’s Degree at ETSU, Jean began life as an officer’s wife, devoting herself to raising her children and supporting her husband’s career. The couple moved often and lived in many places in the United States as well as Germany and Japan, finally settling in San Antonio in 1963 when Roger was assigned to Ft. Sam Houston and remaining there upon his retirement from the Army. Jean was a member of St. Matthew’s UnitedMethodist Church in San Antonio and was active in Eastern Star, the Retired Officers' Wives Club, and the San Antonio Red Carpet Committee. She enjoyed bowling and tennis and will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.
Jean is survived by her daughter Lynn Bush and husband Billy of Carthage, son Michael Craddock of Switzerland, grandson Bradley Gillis and wife Susan of Carthage, grandson Blaine Gillis of Beckville, granddaughter Cheri Gillis of Corpus Christi, great-grandchildren Chandler and Braiden Gillis of Carthage. She was preceded in death by her husband Col. Roger H. Craddock, and siblings Milton, Louie Kate Miller, George, Robert, Mary Nelson, Byron, Ocie Kyle, Anne Fields, and Joe.
