Ina Brown (Glass)
Ina Mai Brown of Mineola Tx, age 96, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Thursday August 9th, 2018.
She was born June 19th, 1922 in Lawrence County, Tennessee to Rosa (Heymer) and Earl Glass. She had a happy childhood even through the depression. She grew up in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee where she met the love of her life, Clarence Brown Sr. She endured his absence during WWII, while working as a chemist. She also loved working at the local soda fountain. This is probably where she developed her life long love of Coca-Cola and chocolate candy. She was a devout Baptist and leader of the G.A.’s. The happiest moment of her life was when her only son, Clarence Brown Jr, was born in 1946. In 1955 she moved with her husband and son to sunny Southern California. There, she and Clarence owned and operated an egg ranch. Many of their relatives joined them in California where they were always welcome in her home for a delicious home cooked meal. Ina and Clarence loved to travel and took many road trips to see all parts of the country. In 1981 they retired to Mineola, Texas to be with family. She enjoyed her part-time job working retail at the original Walmart in Mineola. Soon, her son moved his new family to Texas. She was overjoyed at the arrival of her grandchildren, whom she happily helped raise.
Ina had three great loves in her life: family, friends, and feeding EVERYONE. She loved her family fiercely and would always protect and defend them. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson. She was well known for being a wonderful southern cook. In addition to being incredibly intelligent, her quick wit and dry humor entertained us all. To know Ina was to love her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence Brown Sr, her brother Buster Glass, and her loving parents. She is survived by her son Clarence Brown Jr, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Brown, grandchildren Forrest and Hillary Brown, and great-grandson Emmitt Brown.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1pm on Tuesday August 14th, at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, Tx.
