Jimmy E. Wray, 81, of Mineola, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025. Born on December 24, 1943, in Greenville, Texas, he was the son of the late J.D. Bowden and Dora Paulyne Smith Bowden.

A proud veteran, Mr. Wray served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was discharged in 1968 as a Specialist 4. Following his military service, he dedicated nearly three decades to public service as a deputy with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, where he was respected for his integrity and commitment to the community and retired as a Lieutenant with the department.

Jimmy was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Mineola and remained active in several organizations throughout his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a past Financial Secretary, and was also affiliated with the Dallas County Sheriff's Association. His early academic years included attending Abilene Christian College.

An avid golfer, Jimmy found great joy on the fairways of the Mineola Country Club. He especially treasured the time spent playing alongside his grandson Jacob, passing on not just skill, but a lifelong passion for the game.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Paulyne Bowden; his brother, Larry Wray; and his sister, Bonita Meek.

On October 26, 1982, Jimmy married the love of his life, Linda Ann Wieland, in Dallas, Texas. Together they shared nearly 43 years of love, laughter, and partnership.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Wray; brother, Tommy Bowden; daughters, Heidi Davis and Thresa Wray; grandchildren, Jacob Davis and wife Hannah, Kasey Davis and fiancé Nicholas Poppenhusen, Kash Davis, Kendall Davis, and Cheyann Meek; and great-grandchildren, Josiah Davis, Teddy Poppenhusen, and Jayden Davis.
