William (Bill) Edward Bristow age 86 passed from this life to his eternal home on August 22, 2023. He died at home where he was lovingly cared for by his family and Hospice of East Texas. Funeral services will be held August 29, 2023 at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola, Texas. Visitation will be at 2pm and service at 3pm, followed by burial at Cedars Memorial Cemetery.
Bill was born April 21, 1937 in Paris, Texas to William Robert Bristow and O’Dena Crosby. He married his high school sweetheart Linda Hardee at her parents home in Clarksville, Texas on July 19, 1958. They were blessed with
two children, Michael A and Sharon K. Bill is preceded in death by his infant sister Billie Dean, and infant twin
brother Willard Edward. He is also preceded in death by his parents William Robert and his mother O’Dean who died shortly after his birth. He was raised by his grandmother Anna and his step mother Lena Mae. His brother Robert N and Joe A also preceded him in death, Bill is survived by his wife Linda of 65 years, son Michael, daughter
Sharon, sister Cora Anna Colson, grand daughters Madison and Shelbi, great grand children Tristen and Maci. He is also survived by his brother and sister in-law Max and Betty Hardee, sister in-law Diane Bristow, and many loving nieces and great nieces and nephews. Bill graduated from Clarksville High School in 1955. He attended
Paris Junior College and the University of North Texas. He graduated from Baylor Medical Center School of Medical Technology. in 1958. He was a Registered Medical Technologist MT, ASCP. He was a passionate blood banker his whole career. He worked at Wadley Research Institute and Blood Bank in Dallas for many years. He also worked at Steward Blood Center in Tyler and Manatee County Blood Bank in Bradenton, Florida. He was very active and held many positions in the American Association of Blood Banks and South Central Association of Blood Banks. He was given a lifetime membership in South Central as past President of the Association. He retired from Health and Human Services in Austin, Texas in 2004. Bill was a member of Mineola First Christian Church where he was a
deacon and past Chairman of the Board. Bill was devoted to his wife and children. He was a loving husband
and father who was devoted to his Faith, family and career. And he was a very proud Texan.
