A. J. Randell, age 64, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 in Hawkins, Texas. He was born on Thursday, September 5, 1946 in Big Spring, Texas to Wesley and Bobbie Rogers. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam where he received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was a Peace Officer for 41 years, retiring from the Hawkins Police Department as an Investigator. He was a member of the Active Police Reserve, a certified Master Peace Officer and an Honorary Texas Ranger.
He is survived by his parents; his wife, Melanie Randell; seven sons, Scott Randell, Brian Randell, Shane Randell, Michael Randell, Doug Randell, Marvin Randell, Michael Wilson; two daughters, Amy Covey and Jill McOwen; two brothers, Bo Rogers and Kelley Rogers; one sister, Danna Blount; and numerous grandchildren.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
