Adolph Mellenberger

Mel Mellenberger, age 76, of Winnsboro, passed away June 18, 2019. Mel was born on November 11, 1942 in Sturgis, Kentucky to the late Adolph and Alberta Mellenberger. Mel served in the US Marine Corps from 1961 to 1967 and was honorably discharged. With his wife, Mel started Christian schools in Longview and served as a director of one. He also worked for Avalon VoTech, Job Corps and Guaranty Bank, from which he retired after seven years of faithful service. He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and a beloved city council member and community leader in Winnsboro. Mel was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 53 years, Shirley Mellenberger and son, Michael Mellenberger. Mel is survived by his daughter, Kristine Mellenberger; granddaughter, Jennifer Tully; brother, Pete Mellenberger and special friend, Lee Ann Sparks. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019, 10:00 am at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 919 N Walnut St, Winnsboro, TX 75494.
