Alan Gwynn Woods born on August 12, 1964, in Wichita Falls, Texas age 57 passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022. He was the only son of Edward Gwynn Woods, who preceded him in death, and Shirley Marie Rochelle of Mineola.
He graduated in 1982 from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, Texas. Alan attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he received a bachelor’s degree, as well as Master of Education degree. He practiced for many years as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Nacogdoches, as well as in Marble Falls, Texas helping countless individuals. He most recently managed the Non-Profit Animal Preservation of East Texas (APET) thrift store in Mineola, Texas. The proceeds from this store benefit animals that are housed at the APET animal shelter.
Alan had a love of the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed nothing more than spending time on the water fishing for bass or hitting a crappie hole! He enjoyed all forms of hunting. He had an eclectic taste in music and movies, was an exceptional card player, and had a subtle wit and humor that charmed all he met.
Alan is survived by his mother, Shirley Rochelle; children, daughter Brittany Choisnet and her husband Blake, and his son Brandon Woods; siblings, Alysia Autry, Angela Reid, Sean Kirby and Chad Kirby; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Woods in 2015.
The family welcomes friends for a Memorial Service scheduled at 3:00pm on May, 7th at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, Texas.
