Alene Rouse Holcomb

Alene went home to be with her Lord and Savior March 15, 2009, at the age of 85. She was born August 26, 1922, in Lindale, TX, to Robert Rodolphus and Etta Lee Hughes Rouse. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Bruce Elvis Welsh, Sr. and Harold Holcomb. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters: Willie Rouse, Exa Rouse Barnett, Easter Rouse Barnett, Murriell Rouse, Irvin Rouse, Ada Rouse Creech, Ludena Rouse Gipson, Jesse Rouse, Bonnie Rouse Moses, and James Rouse; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother Wylie Rouse of Marysville, CA. She is survived by her loving children, Bruce Elvis Welsh, Jr. and wife Judy Helen of Plano; Judith Ann Welsh Srygley and husband James Gerald of Forney; and Sallye Elaine Welsh of Garland; stepson Tim Holcomb and wife Janice, of Franklin, TN; stepdaughters Sue Holcomb Wittenmyer and husband Bob of The Woodlands and LuAnn Holcomb of Houston. Survivors also include eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Alene attended Lindale High School and Tyler Junior College. She was employed by First National Bank of Mineola and the former Peoples Bank of Tyler before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mineola. Before her illness, she was active in the Sunday School, church choir, and various other activities of her church.
