Allen Vance II, or Butch to those who knew him, was born on March 4, 1947, in Baytown, Texas, to Ruth Adele and Allen Vance. He went to be with Jesus on January 30, 2024.
Butch served in the airborne division of the Army National Guard reserves and then worked as a lineman with Exxon Baytown Refinery until the late ‘80s. In addition to being a lineman, he also served as a volunteer firefighter at Exxon.
On October 13, 1973, he married Pamela Cox. During their 50 years of marriage, they shared many adventures including raising hogs, cows, chickens, rabbits, ducks, geese, goats, emus, a horse, a donkey and a peacock. On the weekends, they loved to camp and fish together. In 1990, they left the Baytown area and relocated their family to 100 acres in the community of Little Hope outside of Winnsboro, where they owned a wholesale plant nursery and enjoyed living in a rural community.
Butch valued hard work and loved the outdoors. In his earlier years, he was happiest on the tractor, clearing the land, building fence, working in the garden or cutting and raking hay. He also loved to fish and hunt and could be found on many occasions on a dove or turkey hunt, in a deer stand or on the lake fishing.
Butch is survived by his wife Pam Vance, daughter Shelley Green and husband Tommy, son Bart Vance and wife Kaysie, and six grandchildren: Samuel, Lizzie, Ethan, Colt, Rycker and Drake.
