Allen Vance

Memorial services for Allen Vance, 88, of Winnsboro will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the Mission Church in Newsome, Texas. Pastor Larry Green of Mt. Pleasant will officiate. Mr. Vance died Sunday, November 30, 2008, at a Winnsboro nursing home. He had been a resident of Winnsboro for 3 years. He was born on January 15, 1920, in Keota, Oklahoma, and worked for Humble Oil and Refining Company in Baytown, Texas, for 34 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany, Ireland, and France. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Adele Cathriner Vance of Winnsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Allen "Butch" Vance II and Pam Vance of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Shelley Green of Mt. Pleasant; and Bart Vance of Baytown; and two great gandchildren.
