Mr. Alton Lee "Butch" Mize, age 82 of Mineola, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 in Tyler. He was born on November 27, 1938 in Hopkins County to the late Lon Mize and Bessie Busbee Mize. He was a retired engineer for Union Pacific Railroad and a life long auto mechanic. Alton was a man of God and a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents and sisters, Gloria Jean White and Betty Ann Foster.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Mize of Mineola; children, Machelle Burnham of Tyler, Michael Mize of Mineola, Christina Swoape of Golden, Charles George of Blaine, WA, Cind Tillery of Booneville, AR, and Matthew George of Mineola, TX; brother, Lonnie B. Mize of Longview, seventeen grandchildren, Mikey Burnham, Caleb Burnham, Dillon Burnham, Sydney Burnham, Chase Taylor, McKenzie House, Jessicia Swoape, Emerson Swoape, Bransyn Lee Swoape, Sawyer Swoape, Brielle George, Haven George, Macolen Tillery, Karson Tillery, Cassi George, Stella George, Axel George; seven great grandchildren, Hayley, Kylie, and Natalie Burnham, Brantley and Ryston Taylor and Easton and Rylie House.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020 at Sand Springs Baptist Church.
