Alveta Szitar

Alveta Clanton Szitar, 90, of Mineola, TX passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 in Mineola, TX. She was born on Sunday, December 21, 1924 in Polar, TX to the late Clyde and Eula Edna Clanton.

She was a member of Trinity Fellowship in Lindale. She was a legal Secretary and volunteered at Mineola ISD for special needs children. She worked for Sabine River Authority during the development of Lake Fork.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Szitar; three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by two sons, John “Sonny” and Bernita Szitar of Leslie, AR, Ted Szitar of Mineola, TX; four daughters, Sue and Ben Steen of Mineola, TX, Brenda and Larry Cook of Mineola, TX, Debby and Terry Blalock of Mineola, TX, Sherry and James Neal of Mineola. TX; two brothers, Gerald Clanton of Missouri, Danny Clanton of Missouri; sister, Wanda Gortney of Kingsland, TX; sixteen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola officiated by Rev. Ben Steen and Ted Szitar. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. George Cathey and her Reflections Hospice caregivers including Janice, Michelle, Gwen and Stacey.
