Mr. Alvie Wayne Barber, age 67 of Winnsboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 05, 2015. He was born on Wednesday, May 28, 1947 in Spokane, WA to Elvis Barber and Annie Nelson Barber. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1966. After graduation he enlisted in the military and served 2 years. He was a sergeant during the Vietnam War. Alvie was talented and excelled in numerous business ventures. He spent his life helping others. His profession was a mechanic, where her owned A+S service center for over 30 years. Alvie was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Alvie loved people and enjoyed participating in community and church outings. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Olen Barber; and a sister, Rachel Barber Myers..He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ovaline (Hankins) Barber of Winnsboro; parents Elvis and Annie Barber of Winnsboro; son, Jeff Barber of Pittsburg; daughters, Francie Clampitt and husband Bill of Gilmer, Jennifer Rossi and husband Aldo of Siloam Springs, AK.; three sisters, Martha Ridenour of Daingerfield, Sarah Hatcher of Dallas, Naomi Lavelle Williams of Caddo Mills; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their and appreciation to Heart to Heart Hospice, we are so thankful for the care given to Alvie during his illness.
