Amelia Ann Vaughan, born on October 26, 1937, in Lamar County, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026. She was a devoted homemaker who found joy in taking care of her husband and children. Throughout her life, Amelia was known for her love of cooking, sewing, and quilting, creating countless cherished memories with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Edward Vaughan, daughter Carla DiMarco, sons Larry and Edward Vaughan, along with daughters-in-law Mary and Robbie Vaughan, and close friend and confidant Peggy Douglas, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one great, great, granddaughter.
Amelia's warm-hearted nature and her ability to connect with everyone she met made her a beloved figure in her community. She had a special talent for welcoming friends into her home, often treating them to delicious meals and lively conversations.
A memorial service will be held at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Mineola on August 2, 2026, at 2:30 PM. Amelia will be laid to rest privately in Quitman City Cemetery on August 2, 2026.
She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Amelia was preceded in death by parents Leon Hignight and Mildred Hignight, sisters Barbara McIntyre and Marlene Wilson, and brother Harold Glen Hignight.
