Andrew J. Cox, age 88 of Winnsboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Winnsboro. Andrew was born on October 14, 1924 in Wood County to the late Isam Andrew "Andy Cox and Mattie Bagby Cox. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a retired distributor for Safe-Way. He was a longtime member and deacon of Little Hope Baptist Church, a member of the Flora Masonic Lodge of Quitman, past Master of the Mesquite Masonic Lodge, member of the Quitman Eastern Stars, and a member of the Winnsboro VFW. He married the former Louise Screws on January 29, 1943, she preceded him in death on February 10, 2010, also preceding him were, his parents; grandson, Randal Cox; brothers Curtis and Clifford Cox; and sister, Mary Gore. He is survived by three sons, Gary Cox and wife Laurel of Winnsboro, Timothy Cox and wife Lynda of Longview, Tony Cox and wife Melissa of Combine; a daughter, Barbara Tramel and husband Verl of Winnsboro; three sisters, Geraldine Pinson of Longview, Evelyn Gould and husband Jim of Mesquite, Dorothy Jones of El Paso; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
