Anthony Sam Geraci, lovingly known as “Pops” to his family and friends, “Brother” to his sister and cousins, and Senior to his friends in the produce industry, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was 83 years old.
On September 30, 1941, Anthony was born to Antonio Frank Geraci and Sadie Rose Ferraro Geraci. Anthony spent his early years in Houston. During those years, he was a member of The Assumption Catholic Church in Houston, and served as an Altar Boy. Quitting school in the 8th grade, he became a butcher in his Daddy’s grocery store, “Little York Food Market.” Then, he began farming on his grandfather’s farm, which started his love for agriculture and where he developed a strong work ethic, a deep love for the land, and a commitment to family that would shape the rest of his life. Anthony dedicated his life to agriculture and produce sales, forging a lifelong career that reflected his belief in honest hard work, and providing for others. Whether in the field, at market, or behind the wheel of his tractor, Anthony gave his all to every task, always with his family in mind.
In 1961, Anthony married the love of his life, Judy “Honey” Geraci, and together they built a life filled with children, devotion, laughter, and faith. Their union of over six decades was a shining example of love and partnership. Together, they had three children who they adored. Not only did they adore their own, they adored and provided a home for many other family members and friends. A proud member of the Millwinders Hot Rod Club in Houston, and a devoted parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Winnsboro, Anthony was a man of both community and conviction. He loved the Lord and lived his faith daily through his kindness, integrity and generosity.
Anthony was never one to sit still. He found joy in hunting, tending his cattle, and working the land on his tractor. Yet, his greatest joy came from being with his family–whether at a holiday gathering, a backyard cookout, or spending time together at the family ranch in South Texas. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife, Judy “Honey” Geraci; his daughter Stephanie Thompson and husband Steve; his sons Troy Geraci and wife Kelli; Tony Geraci and wife Kim; and his sister Antoinette Baughman and husband Robbie. He was a cherished grandfather to Tori Simons, Shayne Thompson, Kasi Tramel, Sheyan Thompson, Summer Burgess, and Reed Geraci, and a loving great-grandfather to Journi, Hendrix, Rocker, Remy, Rydge, Myles, Tilden, Scottie, Taytum, and Boston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Sadie Geraci, and his grandson, Shawn Anthony Thompson.
Anthony Sam Geraci, Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his tireless work ethic, and the warmth and strength he brought into every room. Each and every person he talked to, in every conversation, he always gave words of encouragement, advice, words of wisdom, or shared life lessons. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and faith that will carry on through the many lives he touched. He worked hard every day of his life so his family wouldn’t have to. His hands may be at rest, but his love will live on forever.
