April Rose Burke
July 19, 1976 – April 2, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of April Rose Burke, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. April passed away peacefully, of natural causes, in the comfort of her home in Gainesville, Texas—a place she deeply loved.
Born in Dallas on July 19, 1976, to Kay Swann Burke and Maurice Burke, April's love for music began early. She wrote her first praise song at just five years old. She attended Liberty Christian High School in Denton, Texas, where her passion for music and dance truly flourished. April often referred to herself as the “Yellow Rose of Texas,” a nod to both her vibrant spirit and her favorite flower.
April was known for her radiant smile, her gentle heart, and her dynamic personality. To know her was to feel her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Burke; her grandparents, William (Eugene) and Frances Swann of Lewisville, Texas, and Junior Cleveland Burke and Rosie Darby Burke of Mississippi.
April is survived by her devoted mother, Kay Swann Burke; her loving brothers and their wives, Jason and Shelli Burke, and Keith and Lisa Burke; four nephews—Will and wife, Jessica, Hunter, Jonathan, and Mason—and one niece, Victoria, as well as an extended family, Uncle Larry and Aunt Elaine Abbott and cousins. April held her family close to her heart and treasured each of them deeply.
A celebration of April’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 at Beaty Funeral Home, 816 W. Broadway Street, Winnsboro, Texas. Following the service, the family warmly invites you to join them for food and fellowship, at Haven’s Café in Winnsboro.
In honor of April’s life and legacy, donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in her name. (donation link at the bottom of page)
