Audrey Dozer Shirah

Mr. Audrey D. "Billy" Shirah of Mineola passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the age of 86. He was born Tuesday, December 30, 1930 in Lee County, Alabama to the late Alex and Elsie Shirah. Billy loved fishing, gardening and was a retired water works supervisor for the City of McKinney and served in the Army during Korea where he earned two Purple Hearts. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Merlene Shirah of Mineola; sons, Leon Shirah and his wife Patricia of Colorado Springs, CO and Eugene Shirah of Princeton, TX; daughters, Barbara Jean Barnes and her husband, Jay of Opelika, AL and Vickie Clark and her husband Billy of Melissa, TX; brother, Thomas H. Shirah of Columbus, GA; sister Lois Moore of Opelika, AL; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, March 12 from 3-5 PM at the funeral home and graveside services will be 1 PM Monday, March 13 at Pilgrim Rest #2 cemetery in Golden, Texas.
