It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Shtofman, who left this world peacefully at the age of 90 on March 21, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Born on March 18, 1936, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Barbara lived a vibrant life filled with love, kindness, and community spirit.

Barbara was a devoted homemaker and educator who embraced her family with warmth and generosity. She is survived by her son Howard Castloo, wife Anneliese Castloo and daughter Carrie Nicholson, who will carry forward her legacy of love. Her heart was also full for her grandchildren, Lindsay Strange and husband Josh Strange, Tyler Castloo, Kyle Castloo, and her great-grandchildren, Tyler Sitton, Grayson Strange, and Kennedy Strange, who brought her immense joy.

A true pillar of her community, Barbara dedicated her time and resources to helping those in need in and around Tyler. Her selflessness and dedication to lifting others up will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Barbara's life will be celebrated on March 25, 2026, beginning with a graveside service at Cedar Memorial Gardens at 12:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Willow Brook Country Club at 4:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring her remarkable life, sharing stories, and reflecting on the joy she brought to everyone around her.

Barbara Jean Shtofman will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit of love and compassion will continue to inspire us all.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Yates and Augusta Yates, her late husband Norman Shtofman, her first husband, Benny Castloo Sr., and her son, Benny Castloo Jr.
