Mrs. Beatrice Eva (Steele) Whatley, age 90, of Cartwright, Texas, died Thursday, January 3, 2008, in Winnsboro, Texas. Mrs. Whatley was the owner of the Whatley Produce Stand in Quitman and a member of the Quilting Club in Cartwright. She was born October 12, 1917 in Ewan, Washington to the late Thomas Steele and the late Myrtle (Lynch) Steele. She was a presbyterian and had lived in Cartwright since 1947. Mrs. Whatley was preceded in death by her parents and by two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years Ralph Whatley; three daughters, Bette Swann and her husband Kenneth of Cartwright, Janice Blalock and her husband Johnny of Quitman, Kathy Richey and her husband Doug of Cartwright; seven grandchildren, Kay Swann, Kenny Swann, Matt Blalock, Jeff Blalock, Jim Richey, Katrina Duplechain, and kendra Gerold; nine great-grandchildren, Fate Richey, Jamey Richey, Drake Duplechain, Preston Gerold, Erica Blalock, Lane Blalock, Jordyn Blalock, Samantha Koonce, Thomas Koonce, and several nieces and nephews.
