Bennie Ronald Moore was born April 22, 1945 to Roy and Audrey Stocks Moore. He had one brother, Gaylon Moore, and one sister, Lanora Anderson.
He attended Mt. Vernon High School and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from East Texas State University.
Bennie’s major interest was agriculture. When he was 17 he and his brother decided to buy cows and land. The beef partnership ended only a few years ago with a big snow being the deciding factor. At ages 17 and 20 these two brothers walked into a bank and borrowed the money knowing their father was not going to bail them out if their business failed.
Also, for almost 50 years Bennie was a cow weigher for various sale barns in the area. His skill for speed and accuracy was well known.
Bennie loved the outdoors. He liked to fish and was looking forward to hunting in the upcoming deer season.
Bennie married Avery Post on December 18, 1991 on the banks of Megan’s Bay in St. Thomas. Jean Moore, future sister-in-law of Avery, told her that she could not find anyone to treat her better. Avery had already figured this out and after 33 years of marriage still agrees. Bennie was a very kind and thoughtful person and he is much loved.
Bennie is survived by his wife, Avery Moore, brother, Gaylon Moore, sister-in-law, Jean Moore, brother-in-law, Billie Jack Anderson, niece, Darthie Anderson and nephews, David Anderson and Jeffery Moore, plus many great nieces and nephews.
