Benny Dale Duncan

November 4, 1942 — August 22, 2023

Benny D Duncan of Rowlett TX passed away on August 22nd 2023 in Dallas, TX. He was born on November 4th, 1942, in Mineola TX to the late Oran and Louise Duncan.

Benny was raised in Mineola but upon graduating from the Mineola High school in 1961 moved to Dallas to pursue further opportunities. In the early 1960’s he started working as a land clerk for Vaughn Petroleum, Inc. and after ten years of growth within that company he joined First National Bank of Dallas, as a landman in the Oil and Gas division. After serving as Assistant Trust officer for the bank he rejoined the Vaughn family companies and served as President for Vaughn Petroleum, Inc prior to the liquidation of the company's oil and gas assets. In 2005 he formed Trunk Bay Royalty Partners, Ltd., a Texas Limited Partnership, wherein he served as the General Partner and Manager of oil and gas mineral properties. Amongst other achievements in the Oil field. He was hard-working, dedicated and detail oriented. With a piercing intellect and unwavering confidence, he made a career in the oil field, where he worked until his retirement.

He was dedicated in his work life but above all he was a people person. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family and hosted a countless number of festivities. Benny never met a stranger; he welcomed everyone to his home and made sure everyone felt at home; he was often the life of the party. He was quick-witted and outgoing and had a great sense of humor. He loved his dogs and being out on a lake. He had a sense of wonderment about the world around him and had an infectious “joie de vivre”. Even though he lived most of his life in the Dallas area he was very proud of the Circle D Ranch cattle operation that he formed on his family's land.

He was generous to everyone that crossed paths with him no matter who it was, from the barista at his local coffee shop to his closest family member.

Survived by his wife of 30 years Lee Duncan, his sister Shirley Duncan, his children: Scott Duncan and wife Claudia Duncan, Vicki Duncan Nolen and husband Donald Nolen, Quinn Duncan and Keye Duncan. Grandchildren: Cameron Benson, Rosalind Duncan, Jameson Roberts, Ingrid Duncan and S Duncan; and 4 great grandchildren; his dear friend and caretaker Miguel T. Guzman, and his friend and personal assistant Mari Gutierrez.

The family would like to thank Dr.Roger Khetan for his dedication to Benny's care, especially in his final moments.
