It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt gratitude that we announce the passing of Betty Jo Lee, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, who entered eternal rest on June 29, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on August 12, 1929, in Shiro, Texas, Betty brought warmth and kindness to every life she touched, leaving an indelible mark on her community.
Betty spent her life dedicated to the service of others. Her role as a bookkeeper showcased her diligence and organization. Yet, her true calling extended far beyond her professional life. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Winnsboro, she devoted her time and love volunteering in the nursery and church office, nurturing generations with her gentle spirit and compassionate heart. Additionally, her volunteer work at Presbyterian Hospital in Winnsboro exemplified her unwavering commitment to helping those in need.
Betty is survived by her cherished sons, Tommy Lee and his wife, Edwana and Dr. David Lee, who will carry forth her legacy of love and kindness. The eldest of nine, with all but three preceding her in death, Wanda Hopkins, Judy Thomas, and Carolyn Ruble, all of whom will miss her dearly. Betty was also an adored matriarch, celebrating the joys of family with her 24 grandchildren, Dayna and Tiffany Lee Cornelius, Joanie and Joey Hamm, Denise and Dave Wilson, David(Sport) and Terrie Lee, Brandon and Wendy Lee, Jennifer and Bob Crump, Roper and Tiffany Lee, Jason and Dayna Lee, Ryan and Christina Lee, Curt and Reagan Landers, and Cheryl and Robert Quisenberry, 31 great-grandchildren, and 39 great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee; parents, Curtis Polley and Mary Curry Polley; sons, Curtis Lee and Fred Lee.
A memorial service honoring her life and legacy will take place on July 9, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro with a visitation starting at 10:00 am. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Betty are invited to join in celebrating her remarkable journey and the loving impact she had on her community.
As we gather to remember Betty Jo Lee, we will reflect on her unwavering spirit, her selfless dedication to others, and the deep love she instilled in all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire us, and her memory will forever remain etched in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church in Winnsboro.
