It is with both sorrow and celebration that we announce the passing of Betty Marcelyn Ramsour Reed, who departed this life peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on February 6, 1939, in San Angelo, Texas, Betty lived a full and vibrant life, leaving an immeasurable mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Betty's father was a Southern Baptist preacher, and her mother was a piano instructor, both of whom sparked her love for piano and ministry. She graduated from Athens High School and attended Baylor University for four years, where her passion for music flourished. She became a cherished pianist at First Baptist Church in Winnsboro and Lone Pine Church in Avery, serving those communities for many years. Most recently, Betty was a devoted member of Grace Fellowship Ministries, where she continued to share her love of music and service.
Being a gourmet chef, avid crafter, seamstress, and hostess of events, bringing people together with her warmth and culinary skills brought joy to Betty. She was actively involved in several committees at her church and in the greater community, dedicating her time and talents to improve the lives of those around her. Her spirit of service extended to volunteering with Morgan's Mercy Mansion and the Wood County Prison and Jail Ministries, where she made a profound impact on many lives.
Lovingly known as "Nana" and "Aunt Betty" to so many, she treasured her faith and family above all. Her legacy lives on through her beloved children, Dedra Massie and husband, Bill; Lance Reed; Kelli Geraci and husband, Troy; Carey Chaffin and wife, Marci; and Nicole Brooks and husband, Frankie; along with her 12 grandchildren, Will Massie, Brendan Massie, Julia Visy; Evan, Camryn and Cali Chaffin; Summer Burgess, Reed Geraci; Sierra Lauzon, Kyle Brooks, Chasity Clifton and Faith Russom. 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews were also dear to her heart. She dearly loved her bonus children, Mark Jobe and wife Sandy; and her bonus grandchildren; Kari Carnes, Kris Laymon, Caleb Jobe and all of their precious children.
Betty Marcelyn Ramsour Reed will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, grace, and unwavering commitment to her Lord and Savior, family and community. Her life was a testament to the beauty of service, love, forgiveness and faith. May her spirit continue to inspire us all.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrell Reed, parents Hilry Lee Ramsour and Audrey Mae Ramsour, brother, Larry Ramsour, son in law, Mike Russom, and great grandchildren James Ivy Laymon and Baby Massie.
On June 28, 2026, the family will receive friends a 3:00 PM for visitation at Grace Fellowship Ministries, Winnsboro, Texas, followed by a celebration of life service at 4:00 PM.
