Billy Gene Busby

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Gene Busby, who left this world on December 10, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born on September 29, 1941, to the late Edward Arlon "Doc" Busby and Ida Mae Harris Busby. Billy was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat Busby, in December 2023; his first wife, Sue Ann Price Busby; and two sisters, Louise George and Hazel Fry.

Billy lived a life full of passion and dedication. A lover of classic pickups, cars, and tractors, he enjoyed working on and trading vehicles throughout his life. His career in the oilfield began in 1975 with Winnsboro Well Service, and he continued working in the industry with Well Tech, ultimately retiring from Key Energy Services in 2008. Many folks who worked with Bill said he was a hard-working fella. He was also known to lend a friend or neighbor a helping hand when needed. A longtime resident of the Pleasant Grove Community, Billy was deeply embedded in the lives of his family and friends.

Billy is survived by his son, Jason Busby; daughter, Christy Worsham and husband Preston; stepdaughters Crystal Spence and husband Cary Lynn, and Debbie Hanselka and husband Rudy; stepson Scott Taylor and wife Jean; brothers, Charles Busby and wife Linda, Joe Bob Busby and wife Carolyn; sisters, Peggy Wilson and husband Marvin, Betty Grace; and a host of cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren include Myia Riley, Taylor Spence, Maghan Spence, Logan Spence, Leslie Tillotson, Cooper Puckett, Lane Puckett, Alex Larez, Chloe Taylor, and Evie Taylor. He was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition, Billy was grateful for the devoted care of David and Karen Anglin and their extended family, who were like family to him in his later years.

Billy’s presence will be missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on through the love he shared, the legacy he built, and the joy he found in simple pleasures.
