Bill W. Morgan died on August 9, 2014, in his home in Mineola, Texas, one day after his 85th birthday. He was born in a small community called Union Valley, near Royce City, Texas on August 8, 1929. He is survived by his wife, Betty Morgan, of 62 years; his son Gary Morgan and his wife Deena; his daughter Jan Robertson and her husband Mike; his grandchildren Christin Morgan, Haley Dezelle and her husband Joe, Bradi-Kathryn Morgan and Madison Morgan; and by several nieces and nephews. Bill left the farm and joined the Air Force in 1948. During the Korean War he flew 65 bombing missions over Korea as a gunner on a B-29. After twelve years he left the Air Force and served as a Fireman in Greenville, Texas until he retired in 1980. Afterwards, he owned and operated 1st City Realty in Greenville and then in the Quitman/Mineola area until he was in his late 70’s. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Quitman Texas. A memorial service will be held at the Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, Texas on September 6, 2014 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
