Mr. Bernard died March 8, 2008, in Tyler. He was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Yukon, Okla., to the late Rex O. and Allie Bales Bernard. He attended the University of Oklahoma, and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired as a pilot from Texas Power & Light, and then pastored Living Word Church of Irving for several years. He lived in Irving, then moved to Grand Saline, and moved to Mineola four years ago. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford Bernard, Rex Bernard and Morrell Bernard; and sister, Juanita Owens. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Tawana Bernard of Mineola; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Cindy Bernard of Bayfield, CO.; daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Archie Love of Mineola; brother, Carroll Bernard of Lakeland, FL.; six grandchildren, Christy Hansen, Suzi Bernard, Amy Bernard, Christopher Bernard, Michael Lyons and Robbie Love; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Andrews, Cody Andrews, Daniel Hansen and Chloe Bernard.
