WINNSBORO, TEXAS - Bonnie Frank Galloway, beloved father and grandfather passed away January 16, 2010 after his recent return to his boyhood home of Winnsboro, Texas. Born October 17, 1927, to Frank Galloway and Carrie Gilbreath Galloway in Coke, Texas, Mr. Galloway served as a Marine before graduating from University of Texas - Austin with a degree in chemistry. He married Juanita (Nita) Hixson, and they raised their four children while he spent his career with Dupont, which took Bonnie and his family from New Jersey to Colorado, California, Texas and Delaware.
Bonnie was a devoted husband, father and affectionately known as "BonBon" by his six grandchildren: Gabriel, Joshua, Ross, Grace, Kiera and Liam. Mr. Galloway was affiliated with Rotary and the Masonic lodge; but his primary avocation was serving in his local church in Sunday School leadership roles and as deacon for more than 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his devoted wife Nita, his parents and his brother, Edward Glen Galloway.
Survivors include daughter Carrie Galloway of Newark, Delaware, sons and daughters-in-law: Lory and Pamela Galloway of Winnsboro, Texas, Jeff and Paula Galloway of New York, New York and Perry and Heidi Galloway of Mission Viejo, California; his six grandchildren; and his siblings: Loris Galloway, Norma Jo Turner and Jerry Galloway, each of Winnsboro, and Dorothy Phillips of Quitman.
A Memorial Celebration will be held at 10:00am Saturday, January 23rd at Pine Street Baptist Church, Winnsboro. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm January 22nd at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Pine Street Baptist Church building fund or the American Diabetes Association.
