Mrs. Carrietta “Pete” Cox, age 102 of Winnsboro, TX passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023 in Winnsboro. She was born on October 10, 1921 in Winnsboro to the late Grady Mills & Alma Harris. Pete was a homemaker, but really so much more. She served and attended Fellowship Baptist Church faithfully. She loved the Lord, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed quilting with her sisters. She shared her love for everyone by selflessly giving of her time, providing meals and her enjoyment of games, such as 42. She could be competitive and liked to win, much like her Mills relatives. She was a devoted parent and grandparent. Many fun times were had with her constructing puzzles, cooking sweet treats, working in the garden and walking the pasture to check the cows. She could even make shelling peas fun!
Pete was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Cox and son, “Jim” Cox. Survivors include her daughter, Novis Johnston and husband Clifford Johnston of Emory; sister Judy Green of Mineola; six grandchildren, Trena Wisdom, Tara Jobe and husband Steve, Chad Wisdom and wife Chrysti, Stephaney Arnold and husband Bryan, Bridget Harris and husband Clint, Bryn Cox; nine great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Kent, Cole, Trevin, Jacob, Jaycee, Hayden, Alyssa and Justin; three great-great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Malainey, Carter and Parker.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 10 am to 11 am at Beaty Funeral Home, 816 W. Broadway, Winnsboro, TX. Funeral Services will follow at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Fred Morrow conducting. Interment will be at Little Hope Cemetery.
