Chad Thomas Scott, died suddenly following a brief illness at age 46 in his Arlington, Texas home.
Chad was born in Houston, Texas on July, 1, 1977. Shortly thereafter his family made their permanent home in Mineola, Texas where he attended high school, graduating in 1995. He was well-known and well-loved in the community and considered a brother by many.
In 1997, Chad enlisted in the Marine Corps. Chad proudly served his country for six years including a tour staged in Kuwait and then crossing the border into Iraq. After his time in the Marines, as a civilian, he lived and worked in Afghanistan. He served as a contractor in several remote locations around the country providing radio support to the Afghan National Police (ANP) and the Afghan National Army (ANA). During that time, he was appointed project lead for the P25 Trunking Team, which was responsible for the installation and support of the radio system the police and army were utilizing throughout Afghanistan. He selflessly dedicated 4 1/2 years of his life to this purpose.
After his return from Afghanistan and at the time of his passing, Chad had a successful career as a Sr. Wireless Systems Engineer at EF Johnson where he worked for a combined total of 18 years. He was well respected and loved by his colleagues for his professionalism, strong and deliberate demeanor, and his willingness to help anyone as needed.
Chad was especially proud of and devoted to his two daughters, Erin, lovingly known as “Bear” and Emma lovingly known as “Lou Brynn”. He always made sure they knew how loved they were with his “sappy” and affectionate sentiments. He never failed to make them laugh and they knew they were always safe in his care because “being trained for combat had its perks.”
Chad is survived by his wife, Brenda Louise Dean Scott (43), his daughter, Erin Elizabeth Scott West (22) and her husband, Kamran West (25); daughter, Emma Brynn Scott (20); parents, Thomas Glenn (76) and Vicki Sue Kitchens (77) Scott; brother, Craig Steven (50) and his wife, Meredith Reaves (49) Scott; niece, Sarah Elizabeth Scott (16); nephew, Declan Thomas Scott (6).
