Charles Amous Dickens

Charles Amous Dickens, a beloved member of the Winnsboro, Texas community, passed away on February 15, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on September 4, 1949, to Glen and Donie Dickens, Charles grew up in Winnsboro, Texas, where he cultivated deep roots within his community.


Throughout his life, Charles dedicated himself to hard work and service. He spent his career as a plant operator with Getty Oil and Texaco, where his commitment and diligence earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.


An active member of Smyrna Baptist Church, Charles found solace and strength in his faith. He cherished his time spent in worship and fellowship, finding comfort and guidance in the teachings of his faith.


Beyond his professional and religious pursuits, Charles found immense joy in his hobbies and pastimes. He had a passion for the outdoors, often found riding his tractor, hunting, and fishing. A skilled craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking and took pride in creating beautiful pieces with his hands. Charles was also a dedicated reader of the Bible, finding inspiration and wisdom in its pages.


However, above all else, Charles valued the time spent with his loved ones. He cherished moments shared with family and friends, finding happiness in their company and laughter.


Charles is survived by his loving sons, Chris Dickens and wife Misty, Jeff Dickens, Justin Dickens and wife Sierra; daughters, Cindy Kay Williams and husband Matt, Holly Ritter and husband Kyle; brother, Jimmy Dickens and wife Anna; sister, Brenda Crow and husband Brooksey; his companion Robin; and sixteen adoring grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his son, Charles Kevin Dickens; cherished wife, Lucinda Dickens; parents, Glen and Donie Dickens; brothers, Roy Dickens, James Dickens, and Jerry Don "Tater" Dickens; and sister, Linda Sue Taylor.


In celebrating the life of Charles Amous Dickens, we remember a man of strength, faith, and love, whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
