Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Charles "Weymon" Lestage, 73, Winnsboro, at noon Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at St. Ann Catholic Church. Interment will follow at later date at Creola Cemetery, Montgomery, La.
Mr. Lestage died Monday, March 1. He was born March 22,1936, in St. Maurice, La., to Joseph Gilmer Lestage and the former Mary Nora Gongre.
Mr. Lestage married Beatrice Lavergne at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Chataignier, La., on May 4,1957. He was a station agent/clerk in railway transportation for the 43 years, joining the L&A Railway, which was later bought out by The Kansas City Southern Railway Co.
The Lestages moved to Winnsboro from Gramercy, La., in 1972. Mr. Lestage was a founding member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Winnsboro. Before his retirement he was a member of Winnsboro Volunteer Fire Department and Kiwanis International. Mr. Lestage served on the Autumn Trails Association Board of Directors and as local chairman of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Bike-A-Thon. He was a member the Knights of Columbus in Gramercy, La., and Sulphur Springs, Texas.
In addition to his widow, survivors include four daughters, Felicia Lestage Witt, Allen; Donna M. Lestage and her husband Jim Rossman, Dallas; Terri Lestage Brown and her husband Scott Brown, Wylie; Camille Lestage Buie and her husband, Joe Buie, Tyler; one son, M. Todd Lestage and his wife Jill, Tyler; five grandsons, Paul W. Perry Jr., Plano; Benjamin Brown, Fort Worth; Michael Perry and Patrick Dodgen, both of Allen; and Blake Brown, College Station; and one granddaughter, Marissa Buie, Tyler. Other survivors include one brother, Nathan Lestage and his wife Lynette, Lindale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
