Christene Lenora Archerd

Funeral services for Christene Lenora Archerd, 88, of Hawkins, Texas are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Mineola with Ron Bell officiating. The graveside services will follow at Hawkins Cemetery. Christene passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at her home.

She was born in Oklahoma on December 11, 1925 to John & Iva Lee Duncan. She married the love of her life, Max Archerd, on February 14, 1950 and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage. They lived in Australia for a short time and enjoyed visiting several countries. Christene was a faithful Christian who dearly loved God and was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and loved teaching others about God. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her wonderful desserts, love of flowers and being with her family especially on holidays.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Max Archerd & sister, Novaline Kline. Christene is survived by her daughters, Betty & Jerry Green of Tyler and Debbie & Dwane Moon of Winona; brother, Don & Pat Duncan of Durant Oklahoma; nephew, Ray & Sherry Henson of Ft. Worth. Grandchildren are Jason & Elizabeth Green of Chandler; Brent Green & Julie Phillips of Chapel Hill; Landon & Misty Green of Daphne, Alabama; Jennifer & Scotty Pope of Winona and Angela Moon & David McWhorter of Hawkins. Great Grandchildren are Taylor & Johnathan Wilson of Chandler; Jenny Green of Chapel Hill; Brooke Green of Chapel Hill; Hunter Green of Daphne, Alabama; Haylie Green of Daphine, Alabama; Montana Morgan of Hawkins; Savannah Morgan of Hawkins and Leland Thomas Norman of Winona.

Pallbearers will be Jason Green, Brent Green, Landon Green, Hunter Green, Montana Morgan and Leland Thomas Norman. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Green, Dwane Moon, Scotty Pope, David McWhorter, Johnathan Wilson, Ray Henson and Keith Tillery.

Her family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph Martins, The Hospice of East Texas, Jamie Johnson, RN & Jackie Clewis for their loving care of our Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother.

Visitation will be on October 25, 2014 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola at 1 p.m, one hour prior to the service.
