Cleo Bess Wherry

Bess Wherry of Mineola, Texas, passed away on March 13 at Villages of Lake Highlands in Dallas, Texas.

She is survived by her daughter, Condy Salling of Dallas, Texas, her son Mark Wherry of Durango, Colorado, and three grandchildren: Matthew and Mark Salling, and Elaine Wherry.

Mrs. Wherry was born to B.A. and Ida Donelson on March 31, 1919, in Colorado City, Texas, and was raised in Stratford, Texas.

In 1940 she married Wayne Wherry, a geophysicist for Standard Oil, in Stratford, Texas, and they enjoyed a 50 year marriage while living in more than 25 different locations in Texas, Louisiana, and Colorado.

Bess and Wayne moved to Mineola in 1980, and maintained their home there until Bess moved to an Assisted Living Community in 2009.

A memorial service will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, on Friday, March 30, at 3PM for Bess' circle of friends and family in that area
