Clytie Marie Folmar

Clytie Marie Folmar died on January 23, 2021 at the age of 85. Marie was born January 20, 1936, in Oak Grove to Clytie Oxford and Rupert Osbourn. She graduated from Quitman High School in 1953. Marie married her high school sweetheart, Billy Wayne Folmar, on April 3, l954 when he was on leave from boot camp with the U.S. Coast Guard. She lived and worked in Dallas while he served his tour. When he returned to Dallas he worked for Mobil Pipe Line Company for 32 years. They were sent to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia when he was assigned to work on the Yanbu pipeline. Later they were sent to Abu Dhabi, U. A. E. on assignment. Marie was cofounder of a company ladies club where women of all nationalities met monthly for coffee and chats. Marie was a member of the Mobil Pipe Line Wives Club since 1966 during which time she served in various capacities including President. They moved back to Quitman in 1993 after Bill retired from Mobil where they built a home on land once owned by Bill’s grandfather. Marie was a life time member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Quitman. Marie loved her church, bowling and line dancing. Marie was preceded in death in 2010 by her husband of 56 years, her parents and one sister, Joyce Brown. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Susie of Mineola, a son Jeffrey of Austin, two grandsons and their wives, Thomas and Kristen of McKinney, Jordan and Amanda of Leander, one sister, Darlene Berglund of Sachse, three great grand-children, Reese Ellen Powers, Amelia Marie Folmar and Jack Larsson Folmar, various nieces and nephews, and a special friend Billy Wayne Logan of Quitman. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola on January 28, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Marie will be lying in state from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm at Beaty Funeral Home at 5320 S. State Highway 37, Mineola, on the day of the funeral. The family respectfully requests that attendees wear appropriate face masks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Liberty United Methodist Church, 300 CR 3138, Quitman, Cal Farley’s or the charity of your choice.
