Curtis Wayne Carey of Clarksville, TX was born December 12, 1937 and passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
Curtis moved to Clarksville as a young boy due to his father being drafted in the military. Curtis attended first through the eleventh grade in Clarksville then moved to Garland. Curtis graduated from Garland High School in May of 1956. From there he enrolled in Park Business College where he met the love of his life, Leveda Roper Carey. They married on September 14, 1956. Curtis and Leveda had their daughter, Yvonne Dalene Kirbow in November of 1957. They later adopted their son, Richard Lee Carey in January of 1969. Their family was complete after that. Curtis had a career at L.T.V. from 1962 and retired in March of 1993. Curtis and Leveda then moved to Mineola. This is where they spent their last days together. Curtis loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as spending his time at Trades Days in Canton, selling guns, knives and meeting new people.
Curtis is preceded in death by his sister, Maegene Reeves; mother and father, Ruth Carey and Curtis Lee Carey; his wife, Leveda Ann Carey.
He is survived by his brother, Tommy Carey and sister, Dorothy Stephens; daughter, Yvonne Kirbow; son, Richard Carey; grandchildren, Justin Kirbow, Amy Fields and Brittany Carey; great grandchildren, Hayden Kirbow, Dawson Fields, Hayley Kirbow and Ian Carey.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations could be made to the Longview Fire Department.
Visitation is scheduled for 9:00 - 10:00 AM, Friday June 25, 2021 at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola TX. Funeral service will follow visitation at 10:00 AM at the funeral home officiated by Bro. Perry Crisp. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Mineola.
