David Paul Screws

Mr. David Paul Screws, age 81 of Pickton, Texas stepped into his forever home on Saturday, December 16, 2023 comfortably at his farm in Pickton, TX. He was born on October 2, 1942 in Winnsboro, Texas to the late Dorsey Screws and Hazelle Thomas Screws.

David spent many years as a dairyman; he valued hard work and his priority was always his family, but especially his wife Linda. Married for over 60 years and known by everyone as “Pawpaw and Mawmaw”, you never found David without Linda close by. He found joy in quail hunting, a good game of 42, and, as a younger man, driving, and watching car racing with his friends and family. You could always count on David’s unwavering humor, his pride in his son Alan, and his quick-witted comments that sometimes rang to the tune of, “you better not leave any grass on that mower deck.”

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Katheryn Wallace, Ruth Banks, Willie Maud Stephens, and Margie Allen. Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Screws of Pickton; son, Alan Screws and his wife, Kim of Pickton; sisters, Mary Wilburn of Winnsboro and Bobbie Jo Sue of Lockney; four grandchildren, Kinde Busby and her husband, Brad, Justin Cameron and his wife, Cassidy, Jonathan Cameron and his wife, Megan, and Aaron Screws; along with six great grandchildren, Cadence, Jaxon, Kinley, Maddison, Grayson, and Owen, and many cherished friends that have always felt like family.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Pine Forest Cemetery in Pickton, Texas with Bro. Terry Bolton officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Cameron, Jonathan Cameron, Aaron Screws, Brad Busby, Tracey Hankins, Trey Thompson, and Brodie Sproles.
