David William Young

David William Young passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 12, 2025. David will always be remembered as a loving husband, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend to all that knew him.


David was born on December 18, 1959 in Harlingen, Texas to parents, John and Mildred Hale Young. David was a graduate of Los Fresnos High School and Texas A&M University. While at Texas A&M, he served as President of the Business Management Society. He remained a proud member of the Association of Former Students throughout his life.


David was employed for 25 years by Los Fresnos CISD before his retirement in 2020, most recently as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that, he taught at First Baptist Brownsville and worked in residential construction after graduation.

He married his wife, Amanda Garcia, on August 12, 1983, in Brownsville, Texas, and together they shared almost 42 years of marriage.


David is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred Young, and his sister, Sharon Young.


David leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Amanda “Mandy” Garcia Young of Franklin, TX, sister, Ann Finley of Sanger, TX and his brother, John Young and wife Janie of Gansevoort, NY. David is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


A celebration of life will be held to honor David at 10:00 am on Friday, May 23rd at Lee Cemetery, 6000 SH-37, Winnsboro, TX 75494.
