Dennis Lee Davis

October 2, 1947 — August 10, 2024

Dennis Lee Davis - Age 76 of Winnsboro, Texas, went home to Glory to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 10, 2024, at 6:16 PM. Surrounded by his loving family, he passed away peacefully.

Dennis was born on October 2, 1947, in Dallas, Texas to Jack and Maxine Davis. He proudly served as a United States Marine and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Sergeant. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 34 years. Dennis carried the heritage of Irish, Scottish, and the Cherokee Nation.

Dennis married the love of his life on September 3, 1989. Dennis and Jayne spent 34 years together growing a family legacy steeped in Christian values, truth, and unconditional love. They had many adventures together, including trips to Pagosa Springs and shared many precious moments with family. The love and devotion they held for Jesus and each other served as a guiding light that illuminated every aspect of their lives together, deeply impacting all who met them.

Dennis loved to hunt and fish with his family; he loved ranch work and was great at working with his hands. He fed the horses every morning, studied the Bible, and spent time helping others. His family meant the world to him. To family and friends, he was known as Goose, a name given to him by one of his many grandchildren. Dennis was truly a gentle giant.

He is celebrated for his caring kindness, generosity, and his ability to bring joy and laughter to the lives of those around him. His profound commitment to and faith in Christ shone through in all he did, touching lives with love and light, whether in brief encounters or lasting relationships.

Dennis was so proud of their children and grandchildren. Words cannot describe how much he was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 17th at 11 AM at Beaty Funeral Home, 816 West Broadway in Winnsboro.

Dennis was a steadfast source of guidance and inspiration to his family. He is survived by his wife, Jayne, his brother Paul, his brother-from-another-mother- Ron Roberts, six children, twenty grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Rest in peace John Wayne, Goose, Daddy, and Friend.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make donations to the Heros Ranch in Quitman Texas.
