Mr. Dennis Ray Nichols, age 72 of Winnsboro, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in Winnsboro. He was born on August 8, 1949 in Gilmer, Texas to the late Buford Morris Nichols and Clara Fay Allen Nichols.

Dennis was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Marines Corp from 1968-1970. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Customer Service Supervisor for Winnsboro after 31 years, but he never quit working. He loved spending time with his family and on his land.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, great nephew Nicholas Morris and brother-in-law, Jerry Craddock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sherry Craddock Nichols of Winnsboro; sons, Dennis Chad Nichols and Bronson Shane Nichols and his wife, Amanda all of Winnsboro; sister, Linda Kay Brewer of Oak Point, TX and sisters-in-law, Sarah Craddock Michael and Julie Craddock-Bragg; six grandchildren, Madison Rose Nichols Lathem and her husband, Taylor, Taylor Beth Nichols, Kobe Hunter McAdoo, Ky'Lee Dyan Nichols, Kallen Wayne Nichols and Kutter Slade Nichols; two great grandchildren, Jedidiah Christopher Lathem and Adaline Rose Lathem; special niece, Shareece Brewer; nieces, Laurie, Angie, Cherie; nephews, Shannon, Doak, Ben along with several other close family members and many, many friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Beaty Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mike Jeter and Rev. Nub Brown conducting, interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Winnsboro, with Taylor Lathem, Shannon Brewer, Doak Lander, Ben Craddock, Scott James, and Tom Bumpus serving as pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers are Sam Gearner, Don Beaty, Kin Lester, Danny Smith, Troy Whitworth, Ricky Reneau, Jack Clemmons, Mike Carnes, Kenneth Short, Mike Riley, Bob Diseker, and Clay Asbill.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Harmony Cemetery.
