Don Gene Hawkins, 86, Beloved son of the late Zeba Mae (Standfield) Hawkins and Jeff Hawkins, at rest March 10, 2023, husband of Martha Ann (Roberts) Hawkins, loving brother of Nelta Fae (Hawkins) Davis, Father of Thomas Jeffrey

Hawkins and Victoria Jean Hawkins, grandfather of Ashley Nicole Roderick, and great grandfather of Sawyer Grace Medders.

Don grew up in the South East Dallas area in the time when it was still mostly country and Dallas was a bus ride away. He is a veteran of the United States Air National Guard. He was a Teamster and worked for the majority of his life as a diesel

mechanic for freight lines; Primarily for Red Ball Motor Freight. He loved and served the Lord and was a good friend and example of what it means to be a Christian to his family and many friends. Don served as a deacon in the Baptist church at Hillburn Drive Baptist Church in Dallas and at Edgemont Park Baptist Church in Mesquite. Don and Martha became members of Pine Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Texas when he retired and they moved to their home in Scroggins, Texas.

A visitation will take place at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral

ceremony at 2:00 p.m. Chaplain Shiles Hubbell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Clearwater Cemetery in Franklin County, Texas.
