Donald Richard Palmore

Donald Palmore, 96, of Mineola, Texas, passed away on September 15, 2026, surrounded by family members. Don was preceded in death by his wife of almost 56 years Ruth Alston Palmore, infant daughter Patty, his sister George Ann, and her husband Jack Hensley. He is survived by his daughters Penny Beatty (Daryl) and Peggy Frazier; his four grandchildren Bethany Frazier, Bret Frazier (Mary Beth), Carol Beatty, and Scott Beatty (Jessica); and five great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.

Don was born in June, 1930, in Dallas to Annie Lorine Coode and husband George Herman Palmore. After George died in an accident, Lorine married W.N. Neely, who Don knew as "Dad". Don graduated from Crozier Tech High School and attended The University of Texas at Austin. He spent his entire career working in oil exploration as a geophysicist for Mobil Oil. He served as deacon and elder in the Church of Christ.

Don always enjoyed being outdoors. Golf and fishing were favorite pastimes. He spent many hours on Lake Holbrook and had fond memories of fishing on the Rio Grande near Creede, Colorado.

The family would like to thank Aspen Hospice of Quitman and the staff at Azalea Trails Nursing Home for caring for our Dad and Papa in his last weeks.

Don and Ruth loved being with their grandchildren, and they served as foster parents for other children as well. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arms of Hope, or 21300 State Highway 16 North, Medina, TX 78055.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, at Broad Street Church of Christ, Mineola, and the service follows at 10 AM. Graveside service is at 2 PM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd., Dallas.
