In loving memory of, Donna Kay Moore
Donna Kay Moore, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 71.
Born on November 15, 1954, in Comanche, Texas, Donna lived a life marked by love, faith, strength, and devotion to her family. She touched countless lives through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. Those who knew her will remember her warm smile, compassionate heart, and the encouragement she so freely gave to others.
Above all, Donna cherished her family. She was a devoted mother whose love, sacrifices, and prayers helped shape the lives of those she loved. Her family was her greatest joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love.
Donna's life was a remarkable testimony of determination and perseverance. After leaving school following the eighth grade, she married her husband, Larry Dale Moore, at the age of fourteen and helped raise three children while working alongside him in the dairy business. Refusing to let her early education define her future, she returned to school in her forties, earned her GED, and went on to become a Registered Nurse. She faithfully served others through her nursing career and retired from UT Health Quitman after more than twenty years of dedicated service. Her journey from eighth-grade dropout to respected healthcare professional reflected the resilience, courage, and work ethic that defined her life.
Donna found her greatest joy in caring for others. She loved cooking for her family, sewing, and baking homemade pies that she often shared with friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of encouragement. Her home was a place of warmth, hospitality, and love where all were welcomed and cared for.
She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing in church, using her gifts to glorify the Lord she faithfully served. Alongside her husband, Larry, she devoted more than twenty years to prison ministry, sharing the hope of Christ with countless men and women. Their dedication was recognized when they were honored as the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Volunteer Prison Ministers of the Year for the State of Texas.
Donna found great satisfaction in working outdoors. She loved tending her flower beds, caring for her yard, and cultivating peach trees and large gardens through the years. She faithfully served in several churches throughout East Texas and was most recently a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.
Above all, Donna adored her grandchildren. She delighted in spoiling them, encouraging them, praying for them, and believing in them. Her love, faith, generosity, and unwavering confidence in those she cherished will remain one of the greatest gifts she leaves behind.
Donna is survived by her son, Brian Moore and wife Betty; daughter, Tina Barber and husband Ross; daughter, Misty Floyd and husband Jason; grandsons, Jesse and Ryan Carrillo; granddaughters, Kristen and Haley Floyd; and siblings, Wayne, Janet, Alan, Michael, and David.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mabel Sweat; her beloved husband, Larry Moore; and her grandson, Trent Floyd.
Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we rejoice in the memories she leaves behind and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her. Her life was a testimony to God's faithfulness, and her legacy will continue through the generations that follow.
"Her children rise up and call her blessed." - Proverbs 31:28
