Donna Faye Thurman (Gaby)

Donna Faye Thurman, age 67, of Mineola, Texas, passed away on January 22, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband, David, and loving family. Born on January 8, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, Donna was the daughter of Don Gaby and Norma McBride Gaby. She was a proud graduate of Alba Golden High School and a longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Mineola.

Donna was known for her vibrant personality and her remarkable skills as a bricklayer. She also brought her charm and wit to her role as a clerk, often brightening customers' days with her humorous phrases such as "it's free to smell" or "it's free to look." Her warmth and humor left a lasting impression on all who met her.

A fan of both Bob Seger and Texas Country Music, Donna enjoyed a variety of music throughout her life, and trips to the beach were always among her favorite pastimes. Above all, Donna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her, and she cherished the time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her father, Don Gaby. She is survived by her husband of over 34 years, David Thurman; her mother, Norma McBride Barnhart; her children, Norman Barnhart and wife Julie, Dale Caston, Jesse Caston, Jason Caston and wife Stefanie, Renee' Childers, and Brenda Thurman; her sisters, Glenda Hayes and husband Don, Susan Chunn and husband Buddy, Tina Parker and husband Randy; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild in the oven, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donna's family will forever remember her loving spirit, her sense of humor, and the unwavering devotion she showed to her loved ones. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Rest in peace, Donna. You were deeply loved, and your legacy will continue through those you touched.
