On Thursday, July 20, 2023, Dori Jeannette (Coons) Barrios of Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born to James and Saundra (Steele) Coons in McKinney, Texas, on May 26, 1975. Dori was fiercely independent and deeply loved her family, friends, and animals! She was a hard worker, had a quick wit, and loved to be outdoors. Dori was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was generous with her time and attention, loyal, and brave. Dori will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family.
Dori was preceded in death by her mother Saundra Coons; maternal grandparents Chaplain Claude and Molly Steele; paternal grandparents George "Jack" and Edith Coons.
Dori is survived by her husband Gaudencio (Junior) Barrios; son Kevin Wooten (Lillie); daughters Addison Rurak Singh (Jasbir) and Elaina Rurak; father James Coons; nephew Andrew Meyer whom she treated as her own son; brother Donald Coons (Manon); sisters Debra Quinn (Tommy), Deanna Wooten (Tony), Donna Akinsola (Moses), and Dena Mayo (Corey); 4 grandchildren Paisley, Destin, Raiden and Kaiden; Kobe Kimbell who was like her own son as well; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
The family will have a visitation on Saturday, July 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro. The funeral service to celebrate her life will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 30th at Sulphur River Cowboy Church, 1935 CR 1060 NW, Talco, Texas 75487. Pastor Jay Miller to officiate. A burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery outside Winnsboro.
