Dorothy Niehaus

Dorothy Niehaus, age 101, of Mineola, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024. Born on July 23, 1923, in Lindale, Texas, she was the daughter of Thomas Brown and Emma Lou Kennedy Brown.

Dorothy graduated from Lindale High School in 1941 and furthered her education at the Federal Institute Business College, earning her degree in 1942. Her professional journey began in Washington, D.C., where she worked for a U.S. Congress representative from 1942 to 1944. She then dedicated 25 years of service at Collins Department Store in Mineola, where she became a cherished member of the community.

On March 22, 1944, Dorothy married L. A. Niehaus, and together they created a loving home. A devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Mineola, Dorothy was known for her unwavering faith and commitment to her church community.

She cherished spending time with her family, creating lasting memories and traditions that will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Jim Niehaus of Mineola. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Brown and Janice Brown, and her brothers, Ray Brown and William Brown.

Dorothy’s kindness, warmth, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Mineola, Texas at 10:00 am.
